About that lack of power. Aprilia says it has ~90bhp, but saw a lot of dynos (as in not the ones that have been extinct for 65mil years
![]() Now 20bhp loss cannot be explained, so Aprilia is not being entirely honest... I suspect that if the engine was a wee bit better the bike might have some more appeal |

The Bandit 1250 also has 96 horses, but 120 torques, but weighs 30kg more, so from the figures I was expecting the Shiver to be at least halfway between between the torque monster that is the bandit, and the SV. I was disappointed. |

well, that's the problem.. they just aren't there :
http://www.motorcycle.com/gallery/ga...t_ALL.jpg.html It says there that only 76 reach the back wheel. If the sv lets the back wheel reach 65-68, then the difference is not that large at all |

Disappointing, I know. They could have made a very fun and entertaining bike and they missed on account of the engine...

try the Tuono! I use mine for everything from bimbling and touring to trackdays. It's got a very comfortable riding position while still being very sporty, it's full of trick gear (brembo, showa/ohlins, radial brakes, banana swingarm etc etc) and it lifts the front in 3rd solely on the power (if you want) ![]() I'm not saying it's without gremlins but it's not the usual italian fare (it's german electronics and austrian engine). Also, it's not great in town traffic and the fuel economy is laughable. Everything else is massive grin factor. I only tried one by accident and I was smitten. Try one while while you still can, they've stopped making them now. Also, for old dudes like us ![]() |

SV - Dorso will feel million times better everywhere, but i test rode one when i was upgrading my 'fun' bike and it wasn't quick enough and the suspension wasn't as plush as the Cb1000r (i bought) or the fazer, Z1000, cbr1000 blade. nicer suspension than the ZX10 i tested first. That knocked all my fillings out and emptied my bowels!!!!
Nice bike for the price. They do a few variations with that same engine too. give the cb1000r a try. it handles well and has lots of usable power. I get about 110 miles to a tank out of it but its my funday bike so i'm never cruising from corner to corner. just keep trying bikes till you find one that speaks to you. I tried a few before returning for another go on the cb Last edited by cb1000rsteve; 18-07-10 at 11:03 AM. |

Not ridden one but sat on one when it first came out , thing I can remember is it's high seat height
Also stopped to help someone on a Shiver that had broken down on a test ride Cheers Steveg
