Yeah you gotta half expect that sort of manoeuvre from a car when filtering like that. There is an art to it. As a newb it was interesting to read in a bike mag last month that when filtering, they suggested if you're going to do it, go past cars when they're side by side. Clearly you could get squashed, but on the whole they avoid each other and won't pull any sudden manoeuvres. Oh and don't put your full beam on as that'll draw their eye and then naturally steer towards you.

IMO the rider is at fault. The car was indicating to move over so he shouldn't of attempted to under take the 4x4. If a car had its indicator on on a straight road would u over take it? I wouldn't same as i wouldn't pass when filtering
