I'm not sure if you're taking the p*ss or not but anyway... it doesn't matter if it's some POS greenbox or a V8 hemi, if you haven't seen it by the time you hear it then it will be too late to do anything.

If you're worried about getting some cadmium loaded dildo up your jacksy then watch your mirrors and don't sit in the middle of the lane, always filter or take up filtering road positioning, hopefully the car will pass you up the inside when the smug bell-end isn't watching where he's going and hit the car in front not you.

Sadly stepping in front of vehicles in the middle of motorways is becoming a sport in Spain and Portugal, where kids actively go there to play chicken with the cars, video it and paste it on YouTube.

Different circumstances yes, but I know of two incidences where the kids have been killed playing this vile game. Whilst they had no reason to be there, no bus stop, and clearly no accident in my mind this is pretty open and shut case of throwing the book at the kids, no matter the age.

When it comes to a situation as above with the girls crossing a road getting off a bus, without knowing the layout of the road it becomes impossible to be able to say if they acted responsibly or not. Unfortunately someone got injured due to their actions and left him with lifelong damage, the amount he is asking back isn’t actually unreasonable considering the costs he will have incurred due to this. The kids will be covered and it is what insurance is for.

On the pushbike, I use my hearing as my mirrors, unless I'm actually going to make a turn, then I'll take a look, but I have ridden with the earphones of my handsfree in, and it was so bloody disconcerting I had to take them out. Every cyclist that has done something daft lately, has without fail had the telltale white leads coming from their lugholes.

Old geezer got ran over in our local B&Q car park by one, driver was scoping out the window for a parking space and the old geezer didn't hear it coming, I've been paranoid about them ever since.

Maybe they should come with some sort of audio track of a V8 for public safety!

The Toyota Prius is no quieter than any other modern car with a small engine!! It still has a petrol engine which is used nearly all the time anyway, all the electric motor does is make up for the lack of power from the engine!

Can we not mention Prius' here ever again? They are offensively pseudo-green - the pollution caused by the battery manufacturing is truly awful.

Any modern car (unless it's been ruded up with a Heinz Winter Vegetables exhaust can) makes most of its noise from the tires on the road, not the engine. All this crapola about electric vehicles needing to have some sort of noise maker is just crapola, and again giving morons and excuse to not bother actually looking before they walk in the street.

Completely agree, I've got a 1.9 Diesel Zafira and a 1.8 Petrol C4 Picasso, neither can barely be heard when literally crawling down the road, like you say tires are noisier

Pedant----
Tires is what happens when you have over exerted yourself, and you get tired.
Tyres are those black round things that go on wheels.
Pedant off----
