Re: Smoking
Its been more than a little while but been away and the ar and general other bits and bobs stopped this dead.
So: rear hub apart and removed about a tea cups worth of mub grit and stones from the swing arm and housing you can see. smoothed it all down with wet and dry so everything flows nicely now. Cleaned this bit.... smoothed surfaces off and regressed the big roller bearing you can see. Rear calliper bracket got de rusted and a quick polish up to give it a nice finish. Rear break disc has been cleaned up and put on finger tight and should be sorting out the axle to get rid of the rust and a coat of paint to protect it better. Also been working on the plastic welding and the fairing is coming along so hopefully should have it finished before the next project arrives. |

Re: Smoking
The suggestion from other VFR owners is to fill the swingarm with expanding foam. This prevents the stones and crap getting in. I've had difficulties removing the 400 hubs before because some stones have got into that groove in the middle and it then doesn't want to come out!

Re: Smoking
actually did somthing to this dam bike the other day.
sorted out the fuel pump as all the contacts where carboned up are arcing like thor with a hangover! it now runs sweetly and smoothly as i think one cyclender ( front right being furthest away ) was getting very little fuel so would knock and not be a happ bunny but all sorted. getting started on the fairings in the next week or so i think. so updates coming this way hopefully. |

Re: Smoking
About time!
Strangely enough I had to swap the fuel pump on mine recently too. Still mine did have ~74k on it so it had a good life! (plus I already had a spare).

Re: Smoking
shhhs i had a dr to start, scream at, want to make a boat anchor out of and finally finish.
i think mine has about 60k on it but after a quick strip and a clean its working like new so pretty pleased. my main issue with the fairing is the 3 rear sections as PO wasnt capable of well anything, there all loose with no lugs to bolt to each other so its guna take some sussing then its a matter of paint off new paint on |

Re: Smoking
I keep meaning to sort the back end on mine, need to swap the subframe (which I have a spare of) as I can't currently carry pillions due to the amount of movement in the grab-rail. Plus I plan to 'upgrade' to a new type battery as I'm sick of the lead acid in comparison to the modern 'gel'/MF batteries. That means cutting the undertray however (which I have a spare of).
Worst thing for working on the VFR however is I have a new project and I'm afraid it has 4 wheels (actually technically at the moment it has no wheels). Druid
