Don't bypass the clutch switch on an FI bike.

Bypassing the clutch switch puts the bike into a neutral gear ignition map so leave as it is.

Re: bypassing clutch switch and side stand on 2010 model?
I've intermittently had my clutch switch looped out. What is the symptom of the neutral map as I don't think I ever noticed anything or does it not apply to a K3 thou?

Never seemed to notice anything from my K4 and I've bypassed my clutch switch.
Unless I was to notice a difference if I was to un-bypass it. |

Re: bypassing clutch switch and side stand on 2010 model?
Experts can correct me but on the circuit diagrams I have seen, there is no connection between clutch switch and ECU on bikes before the K8. So I think this neutral map business only applies to k8 and later. Before that, it's only in series with the start/neutral/side stand switches

Re: bypassing clutch switch and side stand on 2010 model?
Its on all FI bikes. The SV will run a neutral ignition map, meaning the ignition is retarded slightly. On the SV there is a minimal power/acceleration loss. On the GSXR600 the bike will make approx 80bhp!!. On the GSXR1000 it will loose approx 1500rpm off the revs. The SV1000 is the same as the SV650.
We spent ages with tech guys from Suzuki with info from Japan on how to bypass the switch succesfully and no solution was found, well not one that made disconnecting the switch worthwhile, pulling the clutch in to start the bike was simpler put it that way!! |

does it retard the ignition on the carbed models aswell by any chance? just a thought, not fully sure how the cdi ignition works
