Where to buy replacement clutch cable? - SV650.org

Hi, my clutch cable needs replacing as it's reached the limit of the adjusters at both ends and still isn't right.

Where's the best place to buy an OEM replacement? It seems they're about $15-20 in the US, but Robinsons want £30 + P&P which seems a bit steep in comparison.

Any suggestions?

Possibly the problem in the clutch itself, cables dont usually stretch that much.

I suspect the lifter needs adjusting - there's loads of adjustment on the cable.
I think the cable would snap before it ever managed to stretch enough that there was no adjustment left.

As I've done the former to one, also OEM are best for cables

I'll have another go at it, I just did it from the Haynes last time but there are some clearer threads on here with better pictures.

The the cable is pretty stiff too though once you get past the slack, what's the usual life for one? The bike has done 20k miles. I'll try oiling it at the same time and see if that smooths it out.

Yes, but no point putting up with a stiff cable if lubeing doesn't fix it. Especially if it has broken strands or similar. However you said stiff 'after taking up slack' - that sounds more like the adjuster needs lube.

I completely removed the cable at the weekend, and I can't actually move the cable inside the sheath! No idea how I was even changing gear, or how it could possibly seize up like that.

Replacement ordered.
