Fork oil change? Pointy.
I've a fully faired 2005 pointy. It's only done 7.5k miles but thinking fork oil is due a change.
I'm okay at changing oil, oil & air filters, coolant, spark plugs, replacing brake fluid, removing fairings, removing wheels, aligning chain and removing brake pads but wondered how much more difficult changing the fork oil is???? It's a weekend bike so doesn't need to be done in one go if time is an issue. Is it worth tackling myself?? |

Re: Fork oil change?
Depends on how confident you are, I would tackle these tasks myself with the right tools and space.

Re: Fork oil change?
One worry is that I don't have an air compressor or an impact wrench/gun.

Re: Fork oil change?
Shouldn't matter, I think most jobs can be achieved without compressed air.

Re: Fork oil change?
You don't need an impact driver for the fork oil. You just take them off, turn upside down to drain oil out, then refill, re-fit springs and refit to bike.

Re: Fork oil change?
This. You don't need to dismantle the forks, you only have to remove the caps.
