Re: Aftermarket Chinese levers? Pointy.
For the discussion ; my previous Chinese ones were cheap and fine
Got to admit I have seen one fitted by a friend that was dangerous - but it would have been clear at fitment to someone aware of the risks - I think we filed it in the end as we were away

Re: Aftermarket Chinese levers? Pointy.
I bought these for my Thundercat project, seemed to be well made and felt good. Look great on the bike so will be buying a set for the SV when I get payed again.

Re: Aftermarket Chinese levers? Pointy.
UPDATE: The levers came yesterday and look the part, feel well made etc but as I suspected, the clutch lever doesn't actuate the clutch switch, so the switch is permanently out and I'm able to start without pulling the clutch and I have definitely noticed different running characteristics. My question is, what's the quick fix?

Re: Aftermarket Chinese levers? Pointy.
What do you mean your unable to start without pulling the clutch?
Mine have been fine although I do feel some vibration when doing 70mph + but may be due to underinflated tyres. |

Aftermarket Chinese levers? Pointy.
Normal levers have a bit that sticks out and activates a switch which normally needs to be done to start. On a pointy it also alters the fuel mapping.
The new levers don't have that so you need to bypass or change the switch which allows you to start the bike without pulling in the clutch lever. Downside is the bike always thinks the clutch is in so runs off. There is another thread corny where someone drilled through the lever, added in a river or something and a bit of rubber to make the part for the switch.

Re: Aftermarket Chinese levers? Pointy.
I said i can start without the clutch, so the bikes thinks the clutch is always pulled in

Re: Aftermarket Chinese levers? Pointy.
Cheers pyro, thats what I'm thinking I'd rather get it working than to bypass it completely

Re: Aftermarket Chinese levers? Pointy.
Ahh, I didn't have to do anything like that to mine. I just took off the OEM ones and put the new one on in a few minutes. Also took. A knock the other day when I fell of the bike, but they only had a chipped end.

Re: Aftermarket Chinese levers? Pointy.
You properly CAN make the lever work the clutch switch with a bit of tinkering. Mine needed a bit of fettling before the switch cam worked ok
