Re: Lego Collections
I sold all my lego when I was about 20. I had two officially lego bags full of the stuff. Lots if technic etc. Still the best toy ever

Re: Lego Collections
It seems as though a lot of people buy lego just to get the family together, perhaps my dad felt a little left out when I built the 16+age sets by myself when I was 8!!
My 3yr old daughter has started to help click bit's together, I'm looking forward to big family days of building! |

Re: Lego Collections
Up until my eldest turned 14, they used to fight over who was going to build with me. They had to take it in turns to do so many pages of the instructions, or parts of a model, or bags of parts.
Great family activity, only problem is no space for a millennium falcon in my office, but am not allowed to take it to pieces !!!! got it off of amazon for £60 a few years ago, see it's up to £140 now !!!! Have a Technics 'crane mounted on a truck' in the loft, might try and find it to build with my youngest, she is 10, so should be able to manage with assistance now.

Re: Lego Collections
Those of you who have Lego kits stashed away, or are thinking of selling them.
I have a workmate out here who has a VERY keen eye for investing his money (he's a jock ) and his tip is to invest in LEGO kits - they are appreciating faster than gold! He's recently sold a collection of small Star Wars kits which are no longer available new, only about 6 years old, he bought them for £15 each and has just sold them as a set for an average earning of just over £100 each. A tidy return on his investment and very representative of the profits to be made from other kits. His last trip home he claims he spent nearly £800 on LEGO in a single trip!

Re: Lego Collections
I have a vast collection of Technic, I don't tend to build the models released by them, but am fond of a good complex MOC.
I recently started my own Lego blog, which is set in a fictional coastal town called Brickermouth and has stories about ladies of the night, murderous maniacs and corrupt officials. To complement each story, I build a scene and then photograph it, changing where the minifigs are and what they are doing in regards to the story. Recently I was told that one of my stories was so gross that it made the reader feel rather uncomfortable, which was a happy result for me. I cannot tell you what the story was about, but I had to build a dungeon under a house that even had Technic Lights and a shallow grave! Currently, I am trying to build a Volvo 6x6 articulated military truck that has a crane and cabin on the back and I have to photograph an anticapitalist riot outside a Brickermouth Supermarket! |

Re: Lego Collections
I made a bunch of lego stop-motion vids years ago. They're very basic but I enjoyed making them. My favourite lego set when I was a kid was a castle with a string operated drawbridge. I'm really hoping my niece gets in to lego when she is older

Re: Lego Collections
Unfortunately, my Brickermouth blog is full of rather juvenile "adult" content, so I cannot share a link...
A thorough search through Google though may deliver if enough care is taken. |
