Default What Price ?????

Morning All,

I'm toying with the idea of getting a new Sv650 to replace my SL0 - when oh when will Suzuki do an S version !

Anyways, what sort of price do you of the org think I could sell the following for ?

2011 SV650S SL0 - original condition no mods.
49k miles
PSH
New fork seals
New headstock bearing
Fully overhauled front brake calipers/pads
Newish tyres - Michi Pr2 rear pr3 front
Chain/Sprocket replaced 5k ago

Its used a daily commuter doing 40miles a day so the chain is always spotless, oiled and adjusted. Engine Oil serviced on a regular basis.

Condition wise, it still looks pretty new all bar the tinest of furring on part of the engine casing and a few marks in the tank where my jacket lies.

I have got a picture but no way of uploading at the moment.

Defo not sold on the idea of replacing yet as actually its still a really decent bike which Ive had since 3k miles and it still makes me smile but the attraction of the PCP on the new bike is very very tempting, especially if I can lay down a decent deposit.

Cheers
Gav

Regular HP is a far better option.
Cupar Motorcycles are doing 0% just now.

With PCP the "deposit" is actually an initial rental payment and you are effectively renting the bike over the agreement period.

The "guaranteed" future value comes with strings attached, you need to read the small print very carefully.

Hi Talking Heads - agreed. If I can get a big enough deposit then the cost of a new SV is actually very low indeed.

Just need a good price for the old one - not asking much eh ?

The mileage will put a lot of people off, it shouldn't, but it will.

I'd advertise it at £1800 ono

I know the mileage is a prob - thats why I dont want to go near a dealer with it.

£1800 doesnt seem to unfair though...

R1ffr4ff - in all honesty I think thats what I will end up doing - as said, the bike genuinely makes me smile, and I love it... and now that I've had bits done for the next 50k then.... will the new one actually make sense...

I was just curious to its value - if it was a no brainer amount of money then maybe...

Here's a thought.
As it's in fine fettle,as you say and you keep up the good routine servicing etc and you end up @100k miles on the clock and it's still running fine. You would be part of an elite group of Motorcyclists with long term Motorcycles.

Also lets' say the £1800 values as-is went down to zero over the next 6 years you would still have had another 6 years good riding for around £6 a week not including consumables.

But of course it wouldn't be valued at zero as even with 100k on the clock if it used no oil I'm sure someone would buy it for £500 with a full MOT on it in 2023 but of course in 2023 you would be keeping it for another 50k to see if you can join the 150k Club<BFG>

There was a guy on my old CX500 forum that came on to ask if it was time to strip his engine for major work.He bought the bike around 1980 when only 6 months old and low mileage.

It had started to use a lot of oil, which didn't surprise me,as he had over 270,000+ miles on the original engine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here's a good read,

http://www.fireblades.org/forums/gen...age-rider.html

The fella in question is a courier called Stan, who was in his early 60's at the time of the article. His list of bikes is as follows, along with the mileage he put on to each:

1983 Kawasaki GT550 - 15,000 miles
1984 Kawasaki GT750 - 184,000 - "Worst bike I ever bought"
1986 Yamaha FJ1100 - 30,000
1987 Yamaha FJ1200 - 14,000 in 3 weeks - returned to the dealer due to excessive vibration
1987 Yamaha FJ1200 - 90,000
1988 Honda VFR750 FJ - 140,000
1989 Honda VFR750 FK - 149,000 - knocked over at an airport, then traded in
1990 Honda VFR750 FL - 852,000 - engine replaced at 440,000 after it blew its head gasket
1996 Kawasaki ZZR1100 C3 - 252,000
1997 Kawasaki ZZR1100 D1 - 60,000 - written off
1998 Honda Blackbird - 410,000
2001 Honda Blackbird - 205,000 - current bike at the time of the article

The value thing depends on too many factors.

When I bought my 32k K6 (£1700) there were curvies with higher miles, curvies with lower miles, newer twinspark pointies with higher miles.

I never looked at the bike physically until it arrived one wet morning 2hrs before it's MOT(passed) but it came with a folder with pretty much every receipt and service history. I've since done a full fluid/filter change, tyres and headstock bearings.

Condition wise it was ok, certainly not a pampered garage queen but also not particularly neglected

bikes are only as good as their owners. the more owners the more chance of the bike being dodgy.

the only bike i would consider right now is the MT-09 but the SV does everything i want it to.
