Brake upgrade Ks SV1000 N
I suspect it's been covered years ago but I've not been on for ages so worth a re-ask.
Any recommendations for improving the front brakes on a K3 SV1000-N. Ideally with the least amount of faff. Maybe just pads. Or some other compatible but more capable callipers or maybe a full system. They have already been serviced with new seals, pads etc which made a huge difference. Fresh fluid and braided hoses etc but I feel if I can get modern standard stopping power I can keep the SV going for a few more years.

What pads are you using now?
What about a radial m/c from a gsxr? Not sure if discs really make much of a difference

Re: Brake upgrade Ks SV1000 N
When I had my SV THou I replaced the standard discs with a Braking Wavy Discs and then added braided hoses (Goodridge or Hel - I can't remember which).
I was considering changing the calipers but once I tried it with the above mods never felt the need.

Re: Brake upgrade K3 SV1000 N
I think maybe I just need to clean the fork oil off of what I have and do some more miles. Already got braided hoses, fresh fluid, decent pads etc. Reluctant to get into anything too complex or expensive. Was just wondering if there is a simple master cylinder/calliper mod that fits without having to mess about oo much.

Re: Brake upgrade Ks SV1000 N
The sv1000 calipers are more than capable of locking up the front end with ease. Just clean them get non HH pads (they require a lot of heat to bite, stock pads are far better for street use).. And more importantly, make sure you have the front end set up to your weight and so on, every part from the brake lever downwards plays a part in how effectively you stop.
