Nothing to do with them coming from a country with no mountains then.

Wrong gear selection, and definitely not listening to the engine. You could hear it bogging - if he slipped the clutch he may have got away with it.

Re: Hardknott Pass failure.....
Better to be in too low a gear than too high a gear in a situation like that ! Just as a matter of interest, there is a sharp left hand bend going up the very steep Rosedale Bank in North Yorkshire that is difficult to get round without going to the other side of the road because the road drops away on the inside of the bend- it would be difficult to avoid a mishap if a car was coming down as you negotiated this bend.

Re: Hardknott Pass failure.....
Its frustrating as you can tell what is going to happen. First gear and clutch slip maybe required. Clearly not listening to his bike, as it almost stalled out passing the car.

Re: Hardknott Pass failure.....
I've been up that road and around that particular steep hairpin on a number of occasions. On the SV, 2nd gear and a reasonable number of revs is what's needed. I'd guess on that big Beemer, it'd be first gear needed.

Re: Hardknott Pass failure.....
Too much talking going on in my opinion - Im a man so can only do one thing at a time and while riding or driving its no music, no phones and no talking but then for some reason I always seem to be travelling on my own...
