Mabel's boots
Mabel's bitten off claw (squirrel!) is taking a while to grow back. The sheath has now pretty much grown back over the outside but the end of it is still not closed over. It's been hurting her to walk on it as she keeps catching the raw end on the ground, so I've had to buy her some boots to keep it covered.
They are designed for greyhounds, lurchers, and whippets; all dogs with longer feet, and were not cheap, but having just been on our first walk for several days, I can say they were worth it. We've just walked nearly seven miles and she's walking without limping. When we got back I took the boots off and the bitten claw is still intact with no redness or bleeding. Hopefully, she'll only need them for a couple of weeks. |

Re: Mabel's boots
Aww, sweet! If she's walking without limping, and no soreness afterwards they must be doing the trick.

Re: Mabel's boots
She does not seem that bothered by them, judging from the first pic anyway. Hope they help things mend while keeping her active.

Re: Mabel's boots
How sweet. Does she / did she do the funny walk some dogs do when they first get boots?

The claw is healing rapidly now, with the end almost closed over again. I'd think another week and she'll not need the boots, and we can get back to running again! |
