Default Tyre life

Just about to change my rear tyre (Avon Storm 3D) as it's just gone below the wear indicators in the middle. Got 14,700 miles out of it, and I've averaged around 14,250 miles out of the previous four Storms. My usage is dry weather and rides of at least 40+ miles, with not much town stop/start riding.

What sort of tyre life do you get, and what tyre do you use?

Not much to say since I use the same tyres. When I checked my tyres tread depth in the garage I thought they would fail the MOT so I bought a set of Michelin Road 5 (since Avons are no longer UK made). When I rechecked the tread in daylight I realised I'd messed up and had plenty of tread left (and sailed through the MOT).
So, eventually the SV will be wearing the Michelins but for now they're in my dining room.

Wow! I only get around 5K out of mine <grin>but I usually buy budget tyres. I've got a Pirelli Angel ST to go on soon

Do yourself a favour and fit a 90 Deg valve. Game-Changer for putting air in ( put a dab of Blue thread-lock on when fitting for extra security ).

Click for eBay 90 deg Valves.

I've also fitted some Tyre Pressure warning caps Click Here!

I was using the Angel ST tyres but never got any more than 5000 miles out of a rear. I swapped to the Angel GT front and rear because I can't get hold of a front ST in the right size. The GTs do look to be wearing a lot better than the STs did.

I never expect to get more than around 5K out of a rear. Even though I'm in the latter part of my 60s once out on the open road and where clear I am a ,"Spirited" rider

Add to that I like some pretty rough little single track road riding,
