I am surprised they have discontinued the S version, the popularity of the CBR500 and Ninja 300 have shown there is a market for small, cheap, sporty looking bikes.

I think the naked version looks like great value, the only real rival is the MT07, which is nowhere near as much fun as the old SV so can't imagine it being better than the new one.

Apart from the exhaust (which is still infinitely better looking than the exhaust on the old bike) I think it looks great.

We found on our first ride in the Catalan region of Spain that the new SV’s power delivery really comes into its own from 6000rpm onwards, when there’s a rewarding surge of drive. This is a contrast from the more torquey-feeling earlier models – the new bike has the same peak torque output as the outgoing SFV (as the Gladius was renamed) at 47ftlb, but the old bike was kicking that out at 6400rpm while the new machine’s impressive new LCD rev counter has to be displaying 8100rpm to get the same thrust.

Half the fun of the SV is the almost instant smack of torque as soon as you get going.

All of this chat about torque and bhp makes me think I really should get and ride my bike rather than pull it apart.

Pulling it apart is a good stand in for the times you can't ride it but between the 2 I'd always choose ride!
