Re: The all new photo a day 2016!
Dropped the Monkey off at uni this morning after her ridiculously long Chrimbo break and as the weather had improved from the drizzle that greeted me when I first drew back the curtains I headed a few miles north of the campus after we had a goodbye hug. Ditchling Beacon is a high point on the South Downs and has wonderful views north over the plains of Sussex right up to the (fairly hazy today) North Downs in the distance. From Box Hill you should be able to see the opposite view as you look south.
You'll probably want to follow the link to my Flikr page and zoom in on this one. Sussex Panorama by Trevor Laight, on Flickr Looking South you can see the AmEx stadium where Brighton and Hove Albion play, with Sussex Uni in front of it and the Falmer campus of Brighton Uni (my alma mata) behind it. AmEx Stadium by Trevor Laight, on Flickr You can also see the town of Newhaven in a gap in the hills, with a bit of the iconic White Cliffs beyond it. Newhaven by Trevor Laight, on Flickr The Beacon is on the South Downs Way long distance path and was a tad bracing today but well worth the detour on the way home. I'm also glad I had my new monopod with me as I was being buffeted about by the wind and that extra bit of stability helped a lot.

A week after the storm and several days of above freezing temps and still plenty of snow in the forest this afternoon.

It's a really nice place to go to. Good for walking/cycling/family day out. 'The Look Out' is the name of the place, which is in/part of the Swinley Forest.

Re: The all new photo a day 2016!
I just found a load of really old pics at Stu's old home. Including one of me and him in the mid 90s - I deduce by the pierced nose.

Re: The all new photo a day 2016!
And another from me. A new pet, the giant hissing cockroach. One of two my nephew got this week. He's wanted some for ages so our local zoo, which he visits at least once a month, said he could have a couple after his gerbil died this week.
