Count me in also - looks like myself and Matt will meet at The Ace and leave at 9 to get to the Shire by 10 - I assume thats realistic.

Anyone coming from London, feel free to meet at The Ace, but we leave at 9.

Oh, guys, I just wondered what the general pace of the ride would be, and is there a fuel station near the start of the ride so I can top-up?

The pace will be whatever the pace will be - I suspect it'll be faster at the front and slower at the back, but we'll hang about to let people catch up at each major junction. One of the drawbacks of leading the ride is living my life looking in my mirrors to check I can see somebody behind me.

For fuel there's a BP (or similar) garage on the left about half a mile further up the A4 past the Shire Horse. Can't miss it.
