Stop next to them, just before the traffic moves off, open the boot, or easier if it's a big car, the rear passenger door, and ride away with a big wave.

PS: don't be surprised if it's locked, just ride away, don't sit there tugging at it and giving the driver time to react, some cars lock when they move away, others only open the drivers door when you use the remote.

If the plod do knock on the door about it, just say the door was not shut properly and you tried to help, but when the traffic started moving, you felt it wouldn't be safe not to move off too. You were being a good citizen and tring to help a stranger, but it backfired on you because the traffic started moving, you're terribly sorry. Or if there's definately no CCTV or witnesses, just deny it. Unless you live somewhere the plod have nothing to do (like Solihull!) your unlikely ever to get a knock anyway.

To be fair your 90% of your average A to B 5 star safety rated car drivers could not, and probably never will give a **** for other people road safety until they are facing 5 years with big bubba for causig death by dangerous driving.

Sad but true.

Can I just ask what use kicking someones wing mirror off does? Apart from relieving fraustration?

Or did no one think about the fact the **** in the car DEFINATELY won't be able to see the next dude filtering and subsequently knock him off cos they had no offside mirror????

Thats all it does...

I kicked a van drivers door once after he ran me into the side of the road by changing lanes on the roundabout. I had to brake hard and then tuck in behind him. I completely lost it and kicked his door, he then completely lost it and chased me all the way to work overtaking cars on the wrong side of the road in heavy rush hour traffic.

I rode like an idiot to get away from him I took many risks. I scared myself I put other peoples lives at risk through my own actions and indirectly through his actions.

I should have backed off. I should have taken his registration number I should have noted the company name on the side of his van. If I hadnt have kicked his door. I would have had the moral high ground to report him, but because I damaged his companies property, if I had have reported it no doubt I would have been putting myself at risk of being prosecuted for the damage I had done to his company van.

When I was a kid I got cut up by a wally in a white transit van. I gestured my disdaine for the driver and at the next roundabout the drivers mate got out the van hauled me out of my car and then tried to kick the sh1te out of me. I managed to get out of his grip and got back in my car and drove away leaving him shouting in a full blown rant in the middle of the road. The look of pure rage on this guys face was incredible. I suspect I narrowly avoided quite a beating that morning. I was absoloutly terrified. I am not a "hard" person I dont like fighting or using my fists.

This is why I now try my hardest just to ignore it or to rise above it and not loose my temper. Its really just not worth it, look at what might happen to you. Is it really worth putting yourself at risk of the reaction I got in my examples above all because a person was talking on their mobile phone ? In the grand scheme of things I tend to think its probably not worth it.

Of course it might never happen, you might never come across somebody like I did. One day you just well might, you dont know these people in the cars you are overtaking or filtering by or even what they keep in their car. Would sir like a nice iron bar in the face. Would sir like knocking off his bike, woudl sir like being driven over by a car whilst lieing in the road ?

Face facts people most of the bikes i see are too close to the car in front and if i dont see you coming because your up my **** then its your fault, if your filtering through traffic and a car pull up to the white line, dont think hes always trying to block you cause lets face it what ever space there is between the white lines is his, you lot think its everyone else but 9 times out of 10 its you crawling up there arses, my wagon has a sign saying if you can read this i cant see you how do you think car drivers feel when a bike is up its backside trying to bully his way through or better yet the driver hasnt seen the bike as he tries to get past, I rarely see bikes doing the speed limits....
