Lozzo unless you have real time tracking protection that records movement without the vehicle being started you cant prove it. Cloning is a joke. A friend had a scooby and had a private plate, his dad gave him a rollocking one night for ignoring him. The car hadnt moved all day so he was wondering wot his dad was on about. Another guy in the same town had his reg on his scooby, he finally got a pull and he just told the police that he liked the reg n that was the end of it!!!

My 106 was cloned, it was seen in Birmingham whilst I was in Newcastle and the car parked in the staff car park at Cardiff airport; that was a very strange conversation to have with the police officer. It was tracked down to a lock up about 6 weeks later, so it happens although it definitely wasn't down to a photo on the Internet.

When all but two of the vehicles are absolutely unable to start or be moved then I am pretty sure I will know exactly where they are at any given point in time. I'd be very shocked if the Mini ever made it to the road, it hasn't had a bodyshell since I wrote the last one off in early 1997, likewise the RD400 that has been in bits that are in three different garages spread between here and Dover since 1994. The CBR is without wheels, the TS250 engine is out for new main bearings, the Versys and BMW are the only vehicles able to run, and one of them is SORN because it has no tax as it's up for sale.

I`d guess the cloning only really relates to working vehicles lol.

It relates to all vehicles, but getting so paranoid that you obscure numbers from photos is just plain stupid in my opinion. The chances of any criminal using your number taken from a picture posted on the net are so slim it's not worth the bloody effort when there are thousands of other vehicles being driven by that person's front door or local hangout every day for them to harvest a few choice numbers from.

^Tend to agree with you, but can also see peoples point if they want to blank it out - it's their choice.

If I was looking to clone an SV would it be easier to go out and find one in the right colour, or just sit at home on my computer, visit the .org and then look through the photos section until I find one?

because if that crook has a SV for instance they can come on here, find a user with the same colour and make up the plates........ a lot simpler than combing the streets for one............ i blur it and will carry on doing it

doesn't really take a rocket scientist to work that one out

To properly clone a vehicle for a ringing type situation you need the VIN, you can't get that just from a photo you scoured the net for unless you have access to the DVLA database, which very few people have. If they do have access to DVLA they won't even need a registration mark, they can search for SV650 in the database and see what comes up. The only other way to get the VIN is to write it down when you see the vehicle parked up somewhere, in which case you can obscure the plate all you like in photos, it's still on full view every time you park up with the VIN on show too.

To simply stick a false plate on a vehicle all you need is a photo, but if you can prove your vehicle was in Bradford when the offence occurred in Plymouth then what's to worry about. They could have got that number by taking a photo of the vehicle themselves.

Like I said, it's paranoia in the same way that people get all upset and start reposting crap about facebook being about to start charging for its useage. That sort of thing appeals to the mouth breathers who can't think for themselves.

I once had a bloke refuse to give me his bank details in an email when he was buying a bike off me because he was paranoid that this stranger would have access to his bank account, so he sent me a cheque through the post and then had to wait 7 days to collect the bike while the cheque cleared. When he came to collect the bike and was about to leave I gave him a piece of paper with his name and bank details all neatly written down on it. He went mad asking where the hell I'd got them from, so I told him to get his cheque book out and read all the numbers on the next cheque. His cheque gave me more information about his bank account than I'd asked for in the email. Paranoia is a sad thing.
