Re: Vintage film cameras
Hahahaha. She'd kill me if I bought the pink fairy one.
The other 2 are possibilities though. Plenty to think about. She's not happy today - just snapped the battery door off her D700 |

Re: Vintage film cameras
Hmm KM/KX better choice than K1000 unless you're looking at resale values!
I stopped by the local Barnardos today to to try to finish what I should have a week or two ago, but they are closed due to a fire in an adjacent shop. They had an old Zenit with Helios 50/2 lens for a tenner, was going to get it, check it out and see who fancied it for a foray into film, or auction it for charideeeeeeee. But I couldn't. Next time. |

Re: Vintage film cameras
I have a blue lomo fisheye going spare, wife bought me a Diana f with lenses so it doesn't really get used.
Spotted this https://www.gumtree.com/p/non-digita...era/1169593276 There is a KM on Gumtree at the mo. The Pop has a Hexanon lens on the older ones which Johnny thinks is good.

£20! Holy cow that's more than a bargain. Woking in Surrey though, if it's still there |

Re: Vintage film cameras
What's so good about a KM? Bit out of my way that, plus I'm all camered out this month! Just found the info needed to reassemble my other Halina. Get all the bits together.... damn, where has the last aperture blade gone? Disappeared. Project on hold again!

Re: Vintage film cameras
Think you should celebrate by buying a new camera! Have seen those type of death memorial photos before. They feature it in the film "The Others" as well.

Re: Vintage film cameras
Weird, but different times.
KM is like a K1000 but with the bits that were let out - DoF preview, self timer etc. The K1000 is fine but seems to be the first thing anyone suggests when someone wants to learn film photography so they are a bit overpriced. That's it really. Certo lenses now so clean I could wet myself, and the front one even appears to be coated, judging by the purplish reflection, and comparing it to the rear one which has a normal reflection. I didn't think anything pre-war was coated but there were a few. |

Re: Vintage film cameras
Trying to familiarise myself with the OM10 and finished the B&W film. Don't know what the results will be like as it's a long time, 1986 if I recall correctly, since I used monochrome. Used the Vivitar series 1 28-105 for everything. It's not too heavy and it was bright so I could keep shutter speeds fairly high.
A couple of annoying little foibles with the Olympus. The film speed ring is really finicky and hard to get to for ev adjustment. When changing it, I knocked the mode switch on to 'B' and it took me a couple of shots to work out why the shutter was misbehaving. The display light kept going out too, despite my frantic tapping of the shutter (Only after getting home and reading the manual did I discover I'd been tapping the wrong button. ) On the plus side, dead simple apart from that and the shutter speeds in the viewfinder are in nice big numbers and really clear. |
