Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?
I was thinking the same, wind, rain and cold. I've only had the bike out twice since I taxed it in Feb.

Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?
The wind from the east is the problem on the coast - blowing over the cold North Sea.
I have a plan Let's drain the North Sea* which would warm up the wind, plus the offshore wind turbines would now be onshore (so cheaper to maintain). Lots more land for crops (salty soil might be an issue, I admit). * I have no idea how but we can ask the Dutch, they're good with drainage.

Er, I got the patio table and chairs out of hibernation at the weekend so it's just as likely to be down to this foolish act. Sorry.

Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?
My lad's BMW 420i had a sudden major coolant loss when he was coming home from work last night. The vent tube which connects between the cylinder head and the coolant expansion tank broke off at the cylinder head.
Luckily he was only a couple of miles away and so was able to nurse it home without it overheating. Turns out this coolant tube is failing in significant numbers, it's made of a hard plastic which becomes brittle from repeated engine heat-cycles and cracks (causing minor coolant weeps / loss) and eventually breaks completely (causing major unexpected coolant loss. It's common enough that it's a free 'service call' in the US market, with a BMW US technical service bulletin describing it and stating that customers should be contacted to get it replaced. However, despite the BMW US technical service bulletin, BMW UK claim not to have heard of the issue, and deny seeing any such failures on cars over here. What's more, they will not even look at the car without charging a 'diagnostic fee' before undertaking a repair, as they refuse to accept external diagnoses. Ridiculous when the diagnosis is a broken f*cking coolant pipe. Striping b*st*rds. The car is 4.5 years old and 47K miles. If anyone has a 2, 3, 4 or 5 series with the B48 2.0 petrol engine made between 2015 and 2019, I'd strongly recommend getting this pipe checked. |

Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?
more and more modern living is doing my effin head in. got a new washing machine that for some reason starts at 800rpm when the machine is 1600rpm so i have to cycle all the way backwards to set 1600. you also have to reset the machine to off to start another wash which is a FPITA.
now since the machine is one of those wifi ones i thought it would be great to use the app and have a setting i can just use with a press of a button... ermm well you have to give your life story to use the app as it requires you to sign in... its a fekin app not a bank account.... ggggrrrrrr |

Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?
A self-inflicted gripe: think I got pinged by a camera van on the way to the Ponderosa at about 50 in a 40, just before it changes to NSL.
Annoyingly it's a spot where I've seen vans before but not for a couple of years, my fault for letting my concentration lapse. Got to wait the 14 days now, hopefully I'm within the upper limit for a course. |
