Just having a quick breather from the garage ( and to print out more pages of the sv manual). Found my front cylinder head gaskets been well pucked in the crash. Looks like I'll be buying and fitting a gasket set then

Also the bloke recommended I swapped the headstock bearings with tapered bearings as the ones suzuki use are cheap. Any thoughts on this anyone?

Might as well while you are there, try Wemoto for the bearings.

Well then here's some proof that I was infact working on my sorry excuse for a bike and not trimming my mullet. (While my bikes in pieces can anyone recommend anything I should check/replace while I'm at it or any cheap worthwhile mods?)

How'd this oil stain get here? Likely I've got another leak on this side of the engine or as it was upside down could it just have spilt on it?

Oh and old and new forks next to each other
S3700019.jpg

Paid £100 for those forks and they're near enough pristine (the bottom yolk has a lot less surface rust on than mine). I knew there might be some up for grabs so I bought some hagon springs off the net for £55ish in anticipation.
Pretty peed off now to find the new forks actually already have stiffer springs in!
Ah well it's a good thing really I'll just sell my new springs on.

Anyone wanna buy my old forks? Bit of araldite, a hammer and some polish and they'll come out a treat

Thats not the cylinder head gasket hun, thats the cam cover gasket, and its a rubber one. I know this as I've seen it rather many times lately when swapping heads The head gasket is the next one in
YC says it doesn't come int gasket set either.

fudging barstools! Thanks for the heads up dizzie . Maybe I needn't buy a full gasket set then if I'm lucky. Do you know what set this is in or do you buy it seperately? If this had bust would oil leak out or would oil only leak out if the head gasket had gone n'all? According to my gay knowledge of mechanics, surely if it covers the cam, the cam chain'd need oiling so yeah there should be oil in there - but I'm always wrong!
