Wouldn't it have been better to have put " 20 years experience teaching over 16's"? Or is that not " right-on" enough?!

As for the joke, and not being "in", thats not a joke and therefore by definition, not funny. And I wouldn't want to be in anyway. So there. With knobs on.

As I said, if she was doing the same as the other 6th formers she'd not have been singled out.

If she was alone in not attending she should have noticed she was the only one and questioned the fact.

Bellerophon you're such a twit sometimes, don't you know that middle aged teachers are totally "in" right now. For heavens sake man, get yourself a copy of the Guardian and get with it.

Better still

Maria
i think this is a point that needs to be addressed to the school. if they are not providing the correct services then that needs to be changed.

knowing how tight schools are, maybe some proactive work will get things going, e.g. try to get a small fundraiser for the media group, get a sponsored film event or something, tv/vcr/dvd combo things have come down in price a lot, might be able to get together some cash with the teachers help. This would soon get the school off you back and it will benefit everyone.

(sorry if someone has said this, i havnt had the time to read all the posts since marias reply)

Ok - so here's my 2p worth :-

Miss A*'s sister appears to have been unaware of the rules & regs regarding attendance at school - that's a matter that can be resolved by informing her of her responsibilities.
As for whether the facilities at school are sufficient or otherwise for suitable study, this is unfortunately immaterial - a school (or most organisations come to that, although The Anarchists Society maybe somewhat different !!) have rules - whether they make sense or not is not for the pupils / employees to judge they either accept them or go elsewhere.

I have to ask this & I don't wish to offend in any way but - what gave Miss A*'s sister the impression that the rules regarding 6th Form attendance may be different from other years ? Unless specifically told otherwise I would have though it reasonable to assume that the 'normal' rules apply.

However, regardless of the answer to my question, I would say that the school has been very high-handed in the way that they've dealt with this - especially if as has been mentioned - Miss A*'s sister has been a model pupil in all other aspects of her academic career.
I would hope that it could be resolved by a meeting involving parents / pupil & teachers; however, if said meeting does not go the way parents / pupil like (if the school refuse to bend on the attendance issue) then they will either have to 'lump it' or find another source of education.
