Each to his own, i say no more on the subject as i am happy with my lot.

Everyones entitled to their own view. However, Im positive that experience of some Roadcraft training would alter your view slightly over the use of other riding techniques.

BTW, is the photo in your Avatar outside Redcar?

Yes, its Redcar.

I have considered an advanced course, like the ones the Police do, but have not done so yet.

forward observation on the wrong side of the road with your knee down... those bikesafe guys are at the cutting edge of motorcycle roadcraft

fair enough, the guys were riding with a "fast" group "mentality" but when they came off, it was mainly due to the road surface by the looks of things...

I have... When I had my little 250... Soon stopped that, granted there was a real strong rush but just not worth it. I wouldn't dream of going out and doing what they were doing. Just isn't worth it to me.

If you do it make sure you dont hit me cos if I get hurt ill be upset tbh.

I find I'm acutely more aware of my surroundings, other traffic and my own riding when I am really pushing the envelope. If I slip into 'easy mode' then I'm more likely to make mistakes

Interesting thread this. Im very new to the biking world and having a look at those riders they are far far better than i am. Now personally i wouldnt overtake on a corner but each to their own. However people have all mentioned that they crashd because of the lack of forward obs. Now from what i saw there was little or no prior warning to the road surface changing to chippings. and it was on a corner where you would hav it cranked over. Now in a situation like this im guessing the best thing would be to keep the speed down and bike upright when entering the corner but how would you know to expect the surface change like that. And how would you deal with it?
