A friend who makes "provalves", a cartridge emulator which uses a shim stack instead of the coil spring on the RT emulators, had problems getting a soft enough setting on them. There is a LOT of oil being pushed through that valve on compression... Maybe running comp in one side only helps, since it immediately halves the comp damping

You think too much highspeed could be cause of this chatter?

I would be looking into flex and what that does to the big piston.

Steve said he couldn't get the air gap right and make the forks soft enough for the bike. Either way, I can't fault the forks - they're spot on.

Will get it dynoed in the next 10 days.

In any case, raw horsepower doesn't really tell you very much about how the bike will work. Acceleration through time does.

I'd guess it would be more the transition from the bypass/needle to the shims: getting the shims to open gently enough. I don't know how easy it is to get shims to suit: big OD usually means from a shock, hence big ID, hence big clamp diameter...

The air-gap should work just like in any other 43mm fork, I'd have thought?? Piston should be fairly tolerant of flex given the teflon sealing ring... tolerances are a bit looser than engine pistons

I haven't had the guts of a BPF spread on a bench in front of me, so I'm guessing. I did hear that when the BPF's first showed up on the ZX6R, the serious folk all ended up binning the innards and fitting Ohlins or K-tech carts...

Maybe Irie just needed some lead in his front axle to make up for that too-light front wheel

Any risk it will make too much, given the T'bike rules and the weight?
