I've voted in every election since we've had since I turned 18. Particularly as women got the right to vote much later than men, and relatively recently in terms of history. If I dont vote I dont have any right to complain.

For the first couple of local and general elections I voted Lib Dem, but it seemed like a pointless vote.

Lately I have started voting for "Other". That which doesn't appear on the list. I figure even a couple of "Other" MPs in there would ruffle enough feathers and make someone somewhere sit up and take notice.

I'd hope so anyway, and despite their "radical" views on some issues, I think they actually have a fair dollop of common sense. I'm willing to take the risk on the "radical" views.

here is a question for you knowledgeable lot
where can i find out info on my local mps so i can choose who to vote for
i ask because i cant vote for my usual party (in NI) cos i now live on the mainland so i am a new vote to english politics and apart from knowing the westminister info (what little they are putting out there of conciquince) i know nothing of the local situation, also does this matter or should i just think nationly, voting is a whole different cup of tea here compared to the simplisty of my old choice/vote

I strongly disagree with this statment. I cant see how any kind of immigration can benefit our country. We were fine before we opened the flood gates to hundreds of thousands of immigrants. Its the greedy MD's of companies employing them who are raking in the money and driving around in the ferrari's.

Its just re-introducing slavery in my mind.

Where I am working at the moment, the work of these foreigners is appalling. They are all plasterers with forged documentation (its forged because you need to be able to speak english to pass your CSCS which you cannot get on any building site these days without).

A whole sports centre in Kentish Town, and they have plastered it all with 2 and a half inches of plaster, why? I asked their foreman (who is foreman because he can act as an interpreter) and he said its because its government funded and the more plaster they use, the more they are paid.

These people are parasites bleeding our country dry.

Im sorry but I feel very strongly about my views. I am by no means 'racist' but am and have always been proud of where I come from but cant help but see it being taken away from us all.

Dave: as far as finding your local MP is concerned, http://www.theyworkforyou.com/ is probably a good place to start. Won't help on the other parties, but it will at least give you an idea of what your local MP has been up to for the last 5 years.

I have to agree with Stu, I know of several individual cases where workmanship has been poor, the gf is pregnant and they dont want to go home til after the baby is born. I see it every day. They expect a house to live in, they expect money and benefits, they expect intrerpretors to be on hand when they come into hospital at 3am, all paid for by the state.

And now when the economy is bad and the pound is poor against the Euro several thousand of them have fecked off home.

Illegal immigration has affected myself and my family directly, I have seen illegal immigrants flung off lorries and had their legs broken. I have climbed into crawl spaces and been threatened by illegal immigrants on a truck, and I didnt think twice about telling the so and so to claim asylum in the first country they get to - which funnily enough happens not to be the UK. I have seen family and very good family friends go to jail and be treated as criminals, for something that they couldnt help - namely illegal immigrants hiding in their trucks. And while that persons wife and 3 kids who had worked all their lives, supported local companies, and provied jobs to local people had their house re-possessed the "asylum seeker" who entered this country illegally got a 3 bed semi, benefits, emergency grants and loans for clothes and furniture. How do I know this? They were housed at the other side of the town to my friends.

I'm entitled to my opinion and my vote. And I intend to vote for someone who is at least willing to stand up and say that there is a LOT wrong with the country at the moment.

what I want to know is how can whoever it was that proposed it, think, that someone who earns ten grand or under a year get tax off and be laughing, and expect someone who earns eleven to be worse off than the other and be royaly fecked off, how can that be a fair proposal....how does that works fairly, thats just promoting more part timers, or is that the point I'm missing?

Its a nice idea and all, but so so flawed.
