Just to echo other's statements really...

Keep at the cretin and all the best.

I would imagine several of us would be interested to come "see justice being done," as is our right!! I can just imagine a court gallery packed with peeps in leathers!!

Indeed, if the idiot pleads not guilty at committal proceedings, it will go to Crown Court... If he pleads guilty, I can't remember what the sentences, etc. for each of the offences involved are, but it could well be that it will go to Crown Court any way.

what if he says he was going to move his van out of the way, which you are able to do in an accident, and he says you stole his keys from him? maybe he was mad about that?

I think if that were the case he would then use it as part of his defence.

granted, but given at the time I calmly asked him to get out of the van and leave it where it was because there was petrol all over the road and to move could have been dangerous, I was injured and wanted the police to assess the scene before anything was done and they would only be a few minutes, and the first time he tried I asked him not to because my bike was still under the van.

he got out and dumped the bike on its side to leak more petrol over the road. If hed moved the van that would have spread it further down the road causing a potential fire hazard and slip hazard for any bikes coming down and past - I said I thought it too dangerous and the scene should be left until the police could assess the situation.

I kept saying it would only be minutes. They could assess the situation and control the traffic flow. Would you want to drive over petrol? All it takes is someone unaware of what happened to lob a cigarette out the window..

But Id like to see a defence barrister say its ok to assault a pensioner and an injured woman because they took your keys....

WHATEVER we did I believed it to be the right course of action - I believed he wanted to leave the scene and I believed it to be too dangerous with a tank of petrol on the floor, not just for us but for other road users, in particular, bikes coming through.

His reluctance to leave the van aroused suspicion (hey Im a customs officer) and I just asked him to get out the van until they arrived. At that point his behaviour was aggressive enough I started to believe he was going to do a runner... He may have the right to move a vehicle, but I believed he was going to do a runner, I believed it to be too dangerous to move the vehicle and a potential hazard for other road users going through. This situation needed to be dealt with by the police.

At ALL times, I was reiterating that the keys would be handed back to him when the police got there - as he became more aggressive with increasing likelihood of there arrival my assurances were met with verbal and physical aggression.

While the police were with me today, I realised the rip in my jacket isnt from the slide but where he grabbed me - just around the neck as it happens.

Whatever he says, there is no excuse for his behaviour post accident.

Default Bloody hellfire!

Hey Lyn
Glad you made it out relatively unscathed. Let's hope the justice system works out correctly, but whatever happens, at least you're in one piece.

Don't let 'em say too much for fear of prejudicing a fair trial - flippin' media, I don't trust 'em in situations like this. Anything for a bit of good copy..................
