I'm completely confused. One second it's too expensive, the next it's too cheap?

Hang on, I'm still asleep. Ah, awake now. The rrp is what i'm referring too. Plus insurance and petrol and so on.

A bike like the Bandit 12 may be cheap to buy but not to run.

The Thou may be popular with it's customers but if Suzuki don't sell them by the shedload then it will be dropped. Simple supply and demand.

Sorry long gone are the days when a manufacture can sell 4 to 5000+ units of one model a year in the UK 3000 is a very good number . We as customers don’t really count now as they “Suzuki” are producing a product now NOT a motorcycle.

Rich..The RC8 is indeed a very focused V twin sports bike.If it comes anywhere close to the proto type then it should be pretty hot. Slightly more tuned Rotax engine that the Duke has. It looks a bit iffy in their orange but if they do it in black it should be a stunner. I mean you must remember that KTM do not go out to copy the look that other bikes have, when you can accept that then you can appreciate what their bikes are about.

Well last time I looked, Suzuki had quite a range of motorcycles. In manufacturing you bring a number of materials together, work on it and produce a product. That's what manufacturers do. If your trying to say that what they produce is a comodity, then what else do you expect ?

Suzuki is a multi billion dollar business and has such is not going to make anything it can't sell at a suitable margin, it would be foolhardy to do so, unless it was designed as an expensive marketing ploy (i.e. Honda's NR750).

Do you expect them to make a bike just so it suits 0.000001% of the population ?

Maybe they haven't stopped manufacuring the SV1k, but think about the UK market and what it likes. The 650 sells well becaus of its price and because it's cheap to run, insure etc. With the 1000 you're into sportsbike territory, and we are a nation of sportsbike lovers. The naked didn't sell, probably because it was a bit too plain and it never got the accolades it deserved, but that brings you back to the fact that the biking press, like the rest of the nation, love sportsbikes.

Suzuki is a company who wants ya money. That's why it's aftersales is so brilliant

If there was no money in bikes, Suzuki would make cars instead.

Yes, in some cases, you can even get them cheaper! Last year I saw a thou pre-reg'd for £3K (although it was a ginger so factor in £500 for a respray). If it had been available now at that price and I wasn't awaiting points/a ban, I'd snap it up. The ginger colour is even more acceptable now, given the Z350 and subsequently Focus ST etc. using it

Could be similar deals when the last few are being gotten rid of.

My bandit 12 was actually cheaper to run than the sv1k, b12 did more mpg and cost less to insure. I found the b12 only marginally more expensive than the sv650 and yes I have owned the b12, 3 x 650's and the sv1000.

The most costly bike to run I have owned so far was the vtr1000 - 30mpg and a rear tyre in 2.5k
