Not plumped for the carbon bike yet, not had much time and £1k still seems like a lot of dough, not compared to you lot, but the choice is too much - want someone to make it for me...Boardman is tempting, but I don't want the bike snobs to laugh at me!

Yes, 1k is a lot of dough, you could look on ebay for a bargain slighty used bike.

Highend bikes tend to get treated well by their owners, but you can pick them up cheap if you're lucky

They wont, they have a bl**dy good reputation and they always score well in the bike tests that the magazines run. Ribble are the same, alot of bike for not much money, people who know about bikes, know this kinda stuff and wont turn their nose up at you. if they do well personally I'd find another club.

Its not about what you ride its how you ride it.

Fizz - the self confessed bike snob. I am and I never try and hide it. Saying that a chap at work has a Ribble EVO Pro Carbon in black and its a lovely looking piece of kit. One of these

http://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/specia...nf_SERC&bike=1

He went with 9 spd Tiagra, follow the link above and spec it like that and I think you'll be presently surprised about the price...

Edit - I've just done the same, comes out at £799, if you could I would spec that up a little and go for 10 spd 105.
