It is new phone day. My ten year old Doro dumb phone, that I use only for work calls, can survive on standby for week but only 60 seconds of call time before it squarks to be charged. My seven year old Samsung A5 personal phone keeps running out of memory (it's a 32MB jobbie) and takes forever to open anything. So, new Samsung A25 purchased, the old A5 is now my work phone, and the Doroe will be off to the WEEE bin at the tip next time I go.

What an utter faff it is setting up new phones, even if you do use the Switch app...

Two in one day - I'm becoming a right Victor Meldrew...

It's a fantastic evening in South Buckinghamshire. The French doors are wide open allowing the cool mid evening air into the drawing room here in Trev Towers. Am I enjoying it? NO! There is a fudging police helicopter overhead, just afew roads away, and it's been there all fudging evening!! SOD OFF!!!

Hate to say this Sir Trev but you were a lot easier going when you owned a Triumph.

Out on a lovely ride and just when I get to the good bit of road, I come up to the back of a long line of cars doing 45mph. The worse thing is that the two cars at the end of the line are both cop cars.

Ah well, just throttle back and enjoy the scenery ...

I know how you feel. One of the worst roads for that is from the Seaside/ Withernsea back to Hull. If there's a cop car coming out of With you can't do anything until you get to Hull. It's about 20 miles of ,"Yawn"

So usually most bikers, myself included, dive off down some back-roads

That gives me a massive nostalgia rush. I was born & raised in Hull, and there was very little finer than scratching my X5 to Withy on a sunny day, getting a fiver's worth of silver for the amusements, having a bag of chips, then scratching home again

Not sure if everyone is extra grumpy because of the recent hot weather but on my short ride out early doors today I had so many moron car drivers ignoring speed limits, tailgating me or assuming I want to race them. Dangerous and tiring in equal measure.

I'm getting a front-back dashcam fitted on Friday. I am so tempted to put a camera sticker on my topbox in an effort to make people back off a bit but I have a bad feeling it will only encourage some of them...

I've used this psychological trick for years. It doesn't stop them all tailgating does stop a lot,

You get them off eBay. Human beings react to being looked at even if they don't know why or by what

Modern cars... Are they too clever and too fragile these days? Had a call at 9 this morning from Lady Poppy up in Telford to say that mot only is her AC playing up again but she's getting warning messages about the battery, the infotainment screen has shut itself down, the power steering has gone and the handbrake will not engage. Yup, all of those are electrical. On a car that's just two years old.

Green Flag turned up within an hour, reset the error codes, and said it seems OK now, "just a blip". WTF? Thankfully the rest of Lady P's journey was OK, apart from August Friday traffic, and it had already been booked in for regular service on Tuesday anyway. I foresee a grumpy conversation where I shall use the word "warranty" repeatedly.
