Same here they all turned up wearing overcoats and general OAP attire and I wondered what was going on, then I gave my predicted time of 25 mins and this little old man walks up and says "I'll try and do a 19 min today as I am still feeling a bit injured from sunday" or something similar.

They stripped off to their running gear and bang off they went, good as their word he came in just before me and I did 22 mins dead (which I have to say I was pleased with).

These people have been running all their lives where as I have only been doing it for two years now!

Sounds like you have something new to aim for each week Hovis and you have achieved what you set out to do. The group of 6 had better watch out for you on Saturday

Just back. It was the best of times, it was the worst of times...

Best - it always used to be an intense workout, doing uphill speedwork. In fact, this evening's course was the same as the first time I went in 1999/2000. 15 runners, I knew 11 of them (me included) so 4 new faces. They were very welcoming. I couldn't keep up in the 8 X 800m speedwork. I ended up doing 6. I enjoyed it: and I know that if I went every week, I'd improve.

Worst - it brought back memories of what I used to be like, a running addict. I used to be able to keep up with all but the fastest. I used to have no life. And when I left I missed it like mad. But of course I did other things, and then I didn't miss it at all. If I were to improve it would take time and drive. I certainly don't have the time to run to that level - and I'm no longer sure that I have the drive either. I don't want to go back to how I was.

I didn't commit to going again, I sort of dodged the issue, but I think I will, but keep a more measured approach. Spring's coming and my bike is calling my name

Exact reason I have no desire to join a club. I am doing it for me because I enjoy it. Non competive apart from my own goals and targets.

I went for a six mile run at lunchtime today. I got round in 44:07.

Damn you BA that's faster than me flogging myself trying to run a 10k PB.

No it isn't. 10k is 6.2 miles.

And anyway. I spent my whole adult life running. Only had to take 4 years off due to injury. So getting back to running fitness is somewhat easier for me I would say.
