Probrably easier to buy a Garmin, no wires and satellite will keep track of your ride.

Since fitting one to my road bike, I wouldn't go back to a computer with wheel magnets.

Expensive I know, but just buy a mount for each bike

How much???? They do look bling right enough, but the only thing that gives me over and above my current kit is the height gain thing (I think). I have a computer for my road bikes that gives me all the information I want, now I want something simple for MTB. Bottom line is I have spent far to much on cycling already this year and seriously cannot justify that sort of money.

I'm looking for a recommendation for wireless computer that works with modern suspension forks.

EDIT: Mav this is not meant to sound grumpy, but it does seem to read that way and I don't know how to word differently ATM. Don't be offended if the tone seems mean spirited, it's not intended that way!

I'd go for a Cateye, well built and not expensive.

Maybe better to get a wireless one that works off the rear wheel? Easier to mount on a chain or seat stay.

I've got a brand new Aldi wireless computer that will do all the things you want, that zip ties to the fork, so should fit anything.

You're welcome to have it, as the Garmins made all my computers redundant

I'd mount the sensor behind the fork, otherwise its going to get bashed and not pick up the signal from the magnet.

I bought a Cateye Strada Wireless in the sales on Chain reaction.....

http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/M...?ModelID=28239

Gone back up in price a little but works brill on my bike with the 100mm travel of the Tora's. Shouldn't be any reason why it won't work on yours.

Looking at the instructions, distance between unit and sensor is 70cm. Which is a lot considering the sensor is mounted quite high on the forks and near the top of the rim.

Cheers Drew, a bit on the pricey side, but Cateye are good, I have had one on my hardtail for 10 years now. The problem with my Polar unit is the distance from sensor to unit is only 30cm which means if it is mounted that far up the fork, it is too far from the spoke magnet to pick it up. 70cm will be much better.

I've got a cateye strada, it's a dinky wee bit of kit, kind of fiddly to use though as one of the reasons it's so small is they left off most of the buttons. Also the sensor is mahoosive. Good kit though but I prefer my wee wired Sigma... This'd be the wireless equivalent I think:

Though the wired one has a ridiculously long wire so worked fine even on my 160mm travel forks.

True....is a little pricy for what it is, I was lucky as only cost me £29 notes in the sale....so happy days.

I agree with Northwind, quite basic in function, but tell me my speed, distance, time, overall distance etc. No buttons as such, just puch whole unit down to cycle through....hold down to reset etc.

I dont much know... Just got a helmet and goggles, so now I really do have all the gear and no idea

I've used the sales money of the kona to pay board for a few months so far. So got time to figure out what I want to do. Think some better tyre's for the Scott might be the next buy tbh.
