Re: Vintage film cameras
If that black OM went for £46, I think I got a good deal. Just had a look at the flash on ebay, that should fetch 20.

Re: Vintage film cameras
Yep that's right. The light value system was meant to simplify things but it didn't so died out. I'd check it against something like Pocket Light Meter or one of your SLRs as this type of meter can be off, or at least tend towards overexposure in bright lighting, which does sort of balance out the problem of stray light. I usually choose an outdoor scene so quite bright e.g. house wall, and an indoor one e.g. well-lit wall (large areas with even lighting), to see how they work across a range of values.
You won't get any use out of the M position, X for electronic flash/normal use, V for the self-timer, it often pops back to X by itself after being used. You can't use M and V in the same shot as the self-timer mechanism inside is how it counts the 20ms between firing the flash and tripping the shutter, FWIW. |

Re: Vintage film cameras
Been watching some Voigtlander Brillants sell. Bought mine for £3 and the last one I saw sell went for £68. So old cameras are an investment and can justify buying more!

Re: Vintage film cameras
Not a bad haul. Re. the Brilliant, I think some were a pseudo-TLR like the FulVue, and later ones were a proper TLR, so check what each price is for, if you haven't already. £3 is a bargain either way.

Re: Vintage film cameras
Good spot Johnny, hadn't noticed it was a focussing Brillant, mine isn't. The Chinon I bought is missing its self timer lever but I never use them anyway. Put a roll through the X300 today, up at Asda being developed. Really impressed with it. Its light and handles well. Can't wait to see the shots. Was standing by the side of the road taking a shot and someone drove past and screamed "S**t camera" as they went by. Some people are so small minded.

Re: Vintage film cameras
Self timer lever is broken on the KR-5. What are the chances of two broken in one day!
A few from the X300 Had to lower the exposure afterwards as it was a bit blown out. Wanted some of my burger
