I hope it's not the same in Cumbria. The few quid I saved getting the plate on eBay will soon pale into insignificance!

Don't the Laandaan coppers see the advantages (in terms of road safety) of louder exhausts?
I'm running an EVO with two 'exit holes', only one of which appears to have a circlip indicating a baffle!? |

As a I cant say I have an issue with a smaller plate or louder exhaust. As someone has said I do have better things to do. However a good bit of old fashioned riding like a muppet will get you stopped and my pen to scribble into action.

Thats good to know. I'm more into survival than showing off, so hopefully that means I'm not riding like a muppet, though I am a bit of a novice.

You cant be THAT dumb!!!!
Of course you are not legal, its just that they cant easily tell that you are not legal. If you were to remove the marking I believe you could be up for "Perverting the Course of Justice" or something similar. Could loose your license for driving without insurance if detected. Not saying not to do it - thats up to you, but ignorance is no defence in the eyes of the law and all that - just be aware of the ramifications of your actions and if you do it and get caught, dont whine about it. No call for the "dumb" Soulkiss, if there is a loophole then in my view exploit it. Who mentioned Insurance if your not insured you should not be on the road it not only yourself you have to think about.

I think what Soulkiss meant was that if you do that technically you could invalidate your insurance....

Ok, so what about my new can.
I bought a viper race can (no stamps or markings) and a baffle insert which is BS stamped. Is this legal. Also if I'm stopped with "a to load exhaust" by the police, what is the standard procedure? a producer after rectification or points and a fine ? Im beginning to wish id never got my can now, it was a real nut ache to fit and now i'm not sure its legal. |

It's legal with the baffle in, illegal without.
It's that simple. If you ride around with the baffle in you wont get pulled for having a loud one, because the baffle cuts it down to a 'safe' ( ![]() Without it, you'll get a rectification notice if you're caught and you can't charm the nice man enough to let it go..... Take your pick. When i had the Termi can it was definitely obscenely loud, but never rode in a way to attract unwanted attention, ie. around town. ![]() I'd say stop worrying about nothing. |
