Hey, guns can be fun things - to me they are anyway, even though I've only ever shot the real deal when in the forces, but one look at the ones that make me go gooey will tell you why...

... high accuracy 'sniper' rifles mainly. So - I get a real pleasurable kick out of using a mechanical device to send a flying object from my location to pierce a teeny target far away.

I'm not going to appologise for that - I'm not really good at many things in life, but I can sure as hell shoot a gun or bow damn well.
Everyone likes to be good at something, and when they find it, it's a buzz.

That doesn't however mean that I would take any amount of pleasure in using said talent for the purpost of causing harm.

I believe in guns, after all, they're real. But joking aside, we invented them (and sorry Baph, they were never created as defence tools first - they are offensive and were always originally design that way), so we're stuck with them. But like so many things that can be used to cause harm, including martial arts, it will always come down, in the end, to user discipline, training and education.


As for your opinions LP, it's never arrogant to express them, only to believe that they will cause people to change. So express away as far as I'm concerned, I like them, they carry a certain strength behind them that I can respect.

You're right to be worried of course, gun nuts are deeply, deeply worrying but we are not they, we're just having a laugh mate.

I'll admit I am not tolerant of the fact that guns held both legally and illegally are used on a daily basis to kill and maim people in this country.

Even illegal guns arent used to maim and kill people on a daily basis in this country. The number of people killed by guns every year is utterly insignificant now, and was so before the ban too.

Objecting to peoples enjoyment just because it offends your sensibilities is intolerant, and quite frankly, rather pathetic.

I've used a few weapons in my time and although I do get a thrill, I could'nt use them on a living creature, whether it be a squirrel or a human.
I believe society do need to control guns alot more and to sentence people to lot more years in prison for using them illegaly.
But to stop people from enjoying them in a controlled environment, nah, sos, leave em alone.
One more thing, in the UK there are far more deaths/maiming of people by knives than guns, but there is less control over knives than there are over guns. You can carry a knife in a bag outside, but you can't with a gun unless you have a permit.
My fave gun is the P90, small, accurate and a beauty to use.
There are better, but thats my fave

Not at all. Speaking as someone who was a "victim" of a predatory older woman at an illegally young age, I can tell you that like shooting, not all underage sex is harmful or abusive.
