crank shaft each end of the cylinder, two pistons per cylinder, going towards each other to form a combustion chamber in the middle... like two boxing gloves tryin to hit each but just cant... as the combustion forces them apart again.

apart from there is no spark plug and the turbo is a super charger... (but same principle)
hope this makes it a little more clear for you.

Well instead of your turbo above, there was twin roots blowers. and just to complicate things, despite it being a two stoke, it was also fuel injected.

When I questioned the mean time between major overhaul of 1000 hours, I was told. Don't worry the life of a tank in actionis less than 100. Made my mind up that day. If I was ever to go into the army, it would be nowhere near a tank

It's alot less now with advanced weapon systems that other countrys are producing...

Anyway enough Derailment,
back on track...

I've just been for another test ride, this time a little harder with the revs and speed, the gears seam firmer or tighter, no as loose as the old box..if you know what I mean, it feels newer...better even.

can't wait till the weekend.... please weather God, please be nice.

Come on, that's clearly a supercharger, not a turbo. There's no exhaust connected to that compressor housing.

So what's that thing sitting in the middle of the cylinder then?

(I once had to produce some spark plugs with a glow plug element, specifically for these multi-fuel engines...RF shielded of course. The plug worked....the ignition system didn't!!).

OK I enjoyed reading the whole of that thread until you all drifted away from the subject engine and started talking shop.

Richie, I am in awe of your knowledge and skills. Magnificent work.

Dan, I am so envious of you. I would have paid to have been in your shoes and been part of the stripdown and rebuild.
