The weather is looking quite good mate. Sunny and near flat calm. Maybe a bit of a shower overnight, but Sunday makes up for that.

But - do we believe the weathermen?

Haggis and everyone else involved thanks for the organising. Looking forward too seeing everyone again.

I called the old bridge inn on a hunch about eating on sat night and at first they were fully booked but now can squeeze us in at 20:30, which should give you sweaty bikers time to get washed up etc.
If someone has already booked the meal or isn't planning to eat there let me know and i'll cancel or modify the booking. I'm sure there are other places to eat in aviemore or some might prefer the chippie, (i'm easy) so don't feel pressured to eat there, i just thought i'd book it in case that was the preference.

Also is the plan for sunday morning breakfast to eat out or use the kitchen facilities??
If we are eating in and it suits everyone I can pick up sausage (any veggies???) and a couple of dozen rolls and bring them up in the car. Either way let me know either by reply or pm.

Oh here's the menu from the old bridge inn, dont know if its a samlpl or actual menu?

Hearty Soup - see specials board £2.60
Warm Duck & Tangy Leaves Roasted Cherry Tomatoes & Basil Oil £6.50
Scallop & Mussel Bordelaise £8.50
Crisped Goats Cheese Canapé £6.50
***************

Venison & Pheasant Platter Smoky Bacon Sauce £18.50
Pan Fried Grey Mullet Fillet Fennel Sauce £16.50
"Three Slices": Chick Peas Cumin; Polenta & Olives;Semolina & Poppy Seed with Soured Cream £10.50
***************
All dishes served with a platter of fresh vegetables
*********
See specials board for our selection of puddings from £3.90
A discretionary 10% service charge is added for groups of 10 or more

See you all on saturday

Jeesuss. They run a bunkhouse for christs sakes! Can't imagine they get many of thier 15 quid a night budget backpackers eating in the restaurant.

"Make the beds nice an cheap love!..

We'll make it back on the food, or the feckkers'll starve!"

Does it get cheaper if we road kill our own pheasants on the way up?

Thanks for booking Marc, it keeps our options open. In the grand scheme of things the difference between an 8.50 Hunters Chicken in a Brewers Fayre and a 18.50 Pheasant platter is less than the cost of a tank of gas in the SV (and I found a tenner in a jacket I've not worn for ages this week) so its fine by me as a one off (so long as nobody tells my wife how much we spent on dinner).

I'll be just as happy with the Hunters Chicken, or the chippy and spending the change on beer too.

Hadn't really thought about booking us somewhere to eat! So thanks KG, for the option of the Inn.

I did do a google for places to eat - apart from the usual chippy/indian etc or A-la carte nibbles, the only place that stood out was Roo's Leap.

See www.roosleap.com for a .pdf menu. Seem to do Aussie, TexMex, Steaks, Italian, various fish & veggie options etc.

Oh, and they have STICKY TOFFEE PUDDING!!!!!!

Now that's much more my sort of place, I'm not even sure what some of the things on the other menu are (good to see this smiley back on the shortlist, how I've missed it) But, seeing as how it hadn't even occurred to me that we'd want to eat at some point, my opinion probably shouldn't be given much weight, I'm clearly no good at this sort of thing.
