Re: What have you tinkered with today?
Even that didn't work the filter just folded and twisted it was that tight. I used a "Monkey Wrench" type tool big sharp teeth that could bite into it and give more leverage (had to take fairing off) so I could move its round ever so slightly at a time.

Re: What have you tinkered with today?
The heavy anti-vibration bar-end weights that came with my Curvy have never fitted straight and I had to keep an eye on them and re-tighten from time to time.
Decided I couldn't live with them any longer. Found a some old Thick Rubber Air-Line and chopped a couple of pieces down.Totally secure and straight now Also re-applied some ACF50 to my Handlebar electrics/controls

Did you fit the filter? I only fit mine as tight as I can using my hands, thin smear of old oil on the seal. Never had one come loose before and they do seem to self tighten, as I always need to use the filter socket to remove them.

Re: What have you tinkered with today?
Previous one ? no was the place I purchased from (Padgett's) as for this one yes I did and did the 2 turns from touching (by hand), no drama did a warm up/run test and no leaks thus far seems pretty tight. Slight overfill of the new oil but no drama and not enough to worry about.

Re: What have you tinkered with today?
I tore the front-end down to get the steering stem out. The bearings were ridiculously loose when I bought the bike (2005 650N) and I wanted to check everything. Good fun. It's getting a proper look over on the rebuild:
-refresh the forks -clean the brakes -fit stainless hoses -clean and paint the disc carriers -paint the triple clamps -renthal bars -R6 throttle tube -bar-end mirrors I'll post some pics of the process and progress! |

I've had similar issues following engineers who've used a wrench to do a filter up too. Wonkers

They do clean the leather but they contain stuff that dries it out as well. Clean the leather with a damp cloth afterwards and then feed it.

Re: What have you tinkered with today?
Dragged the SV out the garage quite literally had to drag it out, rear brake was stuck on.
Found the pedal and footpeg had seized with the pedal down (some pipe had fallen on it in the garage) peg and pedal stripped down, cleaned, greased and put back together thought all was good tried the brake only to find then master cylinder was now stuck locking the rear brake on again. Slight panic now as the MOT is booked for Tuesday afternoon and the chances of finding a replacement before then are non existent Disconnected the m/c, blocked up the rubber hose feeding it and pumped 95psi into it and heard the cylinder move, pushed back in and then the air treatment again, did this a few times with the amount of psi decreasing each time. All back together again, brakes bled and jobs a goodun Just need some new indicators for the rear as they have a few dead leds in and then its mot time
