Re: Vintage film cameras
The naked XD5 is a mean thing .... thinking ...
Are those shots from the Ricoh today? They look good. Colours and contrast are nice. Are the different sizes something to do with the half size photo?? And in the harbour pic, the right hand side looks more defined than the left. |

Re: Vintage film cameras
They were taken last week. Only got them done today. Will run another film but leave it on auto to see if the meter works ok. They sold it as faulty winder but it will advance three frames before engaging properly to allow you to wind. It's a cool little camera, easy to pocket.
You need some clear vinyl or something on that to show off its shell.

Re: Vintage film cameras
So how does it work? Just like a normal camera but half size images and twice as many pictures to a film?

Re: Vintage film cameras
They tend to be smaller than most 35mm cameras (xa/minox excepting) but yes, half the image size and double the fun. 72 shots on a 36 roll.

Re: Vintage film cameras
Wouldn't mind getting a Dacora Dignette. What would be better, the Dacora lens or the Cassar lens?
I thought the lens was missing from the Kodak Vest Pocket but it seems that is how they are. Probably the oldest camera I own. Dates to around WW1 I think.

Re: Vintage film cameras
You do realise that if, about 75 pages ago, you'd decided you wanted a dignette, you could have had mine, .... and saved me from burning money collecting bits of 1980s Japanese metal and glass.
I have no idea about the lenses - only that mines a 2.8 Dignar. I think different lenses went on different models. The later, super Dignette has the Cassar I think, but it's also got a lightmeter too. I think it might depend on what model you are looking at - there are different shutters on different models too. I couldn't find much information about them when I was looking. There's more on the Ilford Sportsman, which is a rebadged Dacora. http://www.photomemorabilia.co.uk/Il...Sportsman.html |

Re: Vintage film cameras
Wow. I like the vest pocket. 100 years old more or less. I wonder what its history is.
Are you going to try it out? |

Re: Vintage film cameras
The thought had crossed my mind that somewhere in a page long long ago that someone had mentioned a Dignette. Have you still got it? It would be great to shoot with but the bellows are in really poor condition and the shutter sticks open. Nice to look at though. There is one on ebay that I may take a shot at for a shooter but 127 film is hard to get without chopping off an arm and leg!

Re: Vintage film cameras
Yeah. Still got the Dignette. I'm going to keep it but I need to fix the faulty film release mechanism.
