you can buy 'sticky stuff remover' from most supermarkets, or try WD40 as it is a crap lubricant but works well as a solvent and don't seem to harm paint. Maybe try brake cleaner spray, it smells like a powerful solvent.

Maybe ring your local tyre place and ask them what they use to get balance weight adhesive off.

Alternatively, lighter fuel should get rid if the glue. I've found brake & clutch cleaner is good for grime and grease removal too. Spray it onto a rag or strong kitchen paper and rub.

Old trick we use for removing Aircraft decals.Soak a bit of cloth with some solvent,even White spirit/turps substitute will do,then tape over it and onto the area that needs the gunk softening and leave for 30 mins+

It holds the vapours in so they don't evaporate and can soften/melt the gunk.

Works well on Boot rubber marks on COLD exhausts as well

Yep wd40 works well as a solvent and cleaner.

yup forgot about sesame seed oil.

good old fashioned paraffin works on almost anything, every biker should have a tub of it. use it, stick the stuff in a jar to settle, strain through coffee filter and use it again and again.....

I keep meaning to get some paraffin. It used to be the cleaner of choice for chains years ago.

done an early service on the bike as it was a bit rough the other day. decided i might try a different brand of oil so got some motul 7100 10w50 instead of the usual halfords, would rather give my local bike shop the money.

also put the new RAM spaznav mount on instead of suckering it to the clocks. being naked it was not too clever the other day.

its a nightmare to get a hold of these days and as such the price has rocketed...

i must admit that screwfixes no nonsense degreaser is superb and my choice of cleaner. mix 50/50 with water and use a spray bottle then just hose off, job done. for really stubborn stuff it requires going over with a paint brush.
