Kubica needs a strong race as his last two results haven't been so hot. I'll be there. rooting for him though!

Me and the lads were talking about both Fiat drivers possibly getting their P45 this year. Kimi was brought in as the potential superstar to replace Schu, but he hasn't really delivered the goods consistently, has he? Even Massa (spit!) has been outshining him of late.

So we're thinking a possible Alonso/Kubica lineup for the red cars. That'd be a winning combination, I reckon - the passionate Spaniard and the ever reliable Pole. Though I'm not sure I'm that keen about wearing a red cap for the season, and I'd rather see Kubi stick with BMW, who seem to be really taking themselves to new places.

Contract talk bores me, and I think the season hits a low patch when the news is all about which driver is going to which team.

It's a little disingenuous to suggest that Kimi isn't so good - he is the reigning champion after all! He hasn't got the consistency of Schu, granted, but who has?

Both McLarens are looking well sorted for the race today and I wouldn't bet against a 1-2 from them, depends if Kovalainen can get a good start from the dirty side of the track. If they're both away cleanly then you won't see Hamilton for dust.

We have to talk about something while ITV run the Lewis Hamilton show!

Maybe it's cos Schu wasn't sponsored by Smirnoff!!

Today's race verdict, btw-

Oh dear, look as if Jensen Button might have some problems next year

See HERE for details

I can't see Alonso changing his ways at all - ie he'll walk in and demand preferential treatment & 'No.1' status.

Unfortunately given Ross Brawn's history I can only assume he'll be OK with it

I think Jensen will be happy if it's true. It will mean that Honda are dead serious, and if Alonso going there somehow helps turn the Honda into a competitive car (their new 09 car) then surely it increases Jensen's chances of winning races. I think he still can drive, he won't mind being the number 2 driver in a top 3 team because I think he believes he's as good as anybody. And if he isn't this is all irrelevant anyway as he's never going to be a consistent front runner.

SPOILER SPACE

Quite interesting today - seeing as after yesterday's runs all the 'experts' were saying that Ferrari looked really strong & it's a track that really suits them 'cos it's a high speed circuit, etc.

So, if that's the case how come Hamilton just about blew them all away ? I mean almost half a second faster in F1 terms is a seriously big margin !!

I only hope that to achieve pole McLaren haven't fueled him so short he doesn't have the opportunity to build some sort of lead.

Nice to see Kovalainen in the mix as well just a pity he couldn't have found a tiny bit extra to lock out the front row.

I still think that McLaren's best chance for a victory or even 1-2 tomorrow will be if if it rains - remember Silverstone ??

I think we're in for a cracking race whatever though - so nice to see the cars driving at the sort of speeds they're designed to do for long periods rather than a quick 'squirt' here & there between corners.

It will be very interesting if it rains today.

Sadly, the BMW cars don't seem to be on pace at the moment- we'll Kubica's anyway. It's a shame as he's got the skills to qualify and keep the top slots in the race (pole-4th). Though BMW are mainly focussing on developing the 2009 car. I guess we'll see in the race.

I do hope Heikke has a good run today. I also hope Massa doesn't win. I'll be devastated if he get's the championship, but somehow, my instincts tell me Hamilton will have it this year.
