The law in those cases seems to have recognised that we're not robots and we don't necessarily need the immediacy of a knife or fist in the face to feel we are at risk.
That would equate to murder in the UK. Due to the very reasons you stated, she could walk out and report it to Police and never go back near the guy again.

There have been one or 2 famous cases of this Che, where the woman was indeed let off pretty much. But the law sees this as a continued abusive situation where they them became metally unstabe and unable to think rationally.

Its the fact the guys gave the burglar a "sustained" beating that got them jail time. The law would like to think that you would show restraint and not keep hitting the guy after he was unable to fight back.

The fact that he'd come back to get revenge, or send his mates if you sat on him and waited for the cops does not interest the law sadly.

As muh as i agree with you a lot, thats the problem here. Like i said earlier, if they gave the guy a few smacks and then held him for the cops they would have not gone to jail.

Not sure how beating the guy into even more of a pulp is going to reduce the chances of his mates coming over.

The robber deserved it , the man shouldn't be sent to prison.
The Law and justice system is all messed up these days, Its from one extreme to another.

Man gets let off with rape.
Man Sentenced for Sneezing.

What did I read in my local paper a few month ago,
54 Year old man arrested for dropping an apple core!!

Below is the article.

http://www.infowars.com/man-arrested...ng-apple-core/

and there are some other silly cases in the article too.
what is the world comming to

I can't wait for Gordon 'At the Controls and Nobody Voted For Me' Brown to pass another envirolaw stating you have to breathe less (or stop altogether during set periods of the day) to stop human CO2 emissions.

Whilst it's off topic it reminded me of this, Retired man fined £50 for dropping a £10 note (and receipt )
http://www.express.co.uk/posts/view/...pping-a-tenner

But to be fair I don't think they are related per se, one is the law being an ass, these are the law turned into a commision system with bonuses being awarded based on how many tickets you issue which was only ever going to end in disaster.
