Got new tyres fitted. Man it is so awesome going from two squared off tyres to two nice round ones!

Anyone notice anything odd about the tread pattern on these? They're both the right way around before anyone says it

They look like Michelin pr5's. They do seem to have quite deep sipes. And the front pattern is different to the rear. Ie. The front sipes contact the ground on the outer edge first. The rear is the opposite

Yeah I thought the front was on backwards when I went to fit it. Not sure what the thinking behind that is

Ah yes, back in the days when chain lube came in a wide biscuit tin type affair and you heated it up on a cooker with the chain dunked in it.

Kids of today might think I've been at the wacky baccy, but tis true and those wacky dutchmen (among others) are still at it.

Yep did this with my GT750. I think that died out when endless chains appeared. Also the cooking would also kill the O rings in modern chains.

All about extending tyre life. The arc of the tread deals with forward-back forces when upright and the side-side forces when leant over.

Rear arc pattern is optimised for acceleration. Front is optimised for braking.

Washing my gear today. So no biking this weekend, but it'll feel lovely on Monday. Nothing like clean cheek pads on your helmet!
