Surely we can make it that we bit more, ("and don't call me Surely", sorry Airplane joke).
About 75 miles via the Lecht, or 80 miles via the A9, but the Lecht reaches 2100ft.

I think the weather will have calmed by the time we leave the Spittal of Glenshee though. It's blowing a gale here now so it's a wee bit early in arriving.

Yes. Looks like it. These are the weather warnings issued by the Met office. Think we'll escape the worst of it.

Heavy RainSat 25 OctThere is a moderate risk of a severe weather event affecting the western side of Scotland during Saturday. There will be a period of widespread, heavy rain falling on already saturated ground, with the highest totals of around 75 mm occurring over the hills. The rain will be accompanied by gales and in places severe gales, especially across the northwest.
Issued at: 1030 Fri 24 Oct

Severe GalesSat 25 OctThere is a moderate risk of a severe weather event affecting the Northern Isles and the Outer Hebrides during Saturday. Gale to severe gale force south to southwesterly winds will rise to storm force in places, giving gusts to 70 or perhaps 80 mph. The wind will swing round to become westerly later in the day and will then ease slowly.
Issued at: 1559 Fri 24 Oct

Yep gusty this morning, the birds are enjoying it rather than hiding, so it's not that bad. Has been bone dry until 10 minutes ago, now it's spitting rain, but I think it's coming in from the west so we should be riding away from it.

It was! We filtered for about a mile after the Erskine bridge, through standing water, then the Loch Lomond road was a nightmare. The we saw the Drovers Inn and stopped.........
