Mine doesn't even stay on my windscreen, not convinced it'll stay on the rev counter!

Good idea though, might try it (but with a piece of security string!)

Don't forget that we were at a different campsite for GM2. We are back to the same campsite this year as for GM1 at the head of Loch Lomond (remember I was trying to tell you you could block in my Vectra in the car park as it wasn't moving anywhere all weekend, and you got ****ed off with me thinking that I was shouting at you for blocking in the car )

You could still go that way, but you'd probably add about 10-15 miles, because you'd need to go too far North, and cut back south again at Crianlarich.

The A80 was also plagued by a long 40mph limit for a long time, don't know if it's still there (Q, KG, IP?), but that wuld defo make Glasgow quicker.

Stirling is a nicer route if it's feasible.

I'll do about 450 miles and be on the bike for 12-14 hours with a 2 hour ferry ride in between. The only significant bit of motorway I'm touching is from Dublin to Belfast as I have a deadline to meet after getting off the ferry. I have no qualms about it at all ?
I really should make my posts shorter shouldn't I

Any views on that route???

NB we still need to get to Carlisle first from Quiffs, which is 150 miles so will probably stick to the M6 for that bit
if your going that way you have no excuse to have a pit stop at mine - you are practically going past the door! - its not the route i would chose. I would cut a blanfield and get onto the Carbeth road 809 and then cut to balloch from there - IAM test route that is or go Over the Crow from some great scencery and kamikaze sheep

Are the roadworks still on the A80 up to Denny?

Yes they are and at one point closed down to one lane, but that might have been for a day last week.

Help!

Can't make my mind up whether to cut across the A66 to the M6, then head north - boring.

Or up the A68, around Edinburgh then up via Stirling, Dunblane, Callander.

For those of you north of the Border, is the Stirling, Dunblane, Callander route decent or should I just blast up the M6/M74?

M6 M74 yes boring....Stirling, Dunblane, Callander route much nicer. Loads of places to stop, you'll see bikes parked up...other route be paying £1.28 a litre. Depends on how quick and boring you wanna bereally. Pegs just come back from there so I'm typing what hes saying

Halfway between Stirling and Callander.
