I thought they were excellent considering it's just a point & shoot digi. What sort of optical zoom have you got on that as we were a fair way away? Like the 2 of me just about to lean in for the first sharp one of the double bend . cheers

I was also there and have a CD ordered from the RAF Leeming photographer so I'll upload a few pics from that if anyone is after them.

It was my first ever trackday and won't be my last. I was there on the Monster with Sp33dy on his Speed Four. I was the oldest bike on track apart from the stroker and the cafe racer but really enjoyed myself. I was there to build up my confidence after binning my SV a couple of years ago and it really served it's purpose. At first I thought the sighting laps were fast but as the day grew my confidence levels went up and my faith in tyres improved a lot. I didn't get my knee down but didn't go there for that anyway. Was good to see a few SV's there. Not sure who was on the silver pointy but they seemed to be running well.

The day seemed eally well organised and very friendly. I was a bit concerned when I turned up on my bike with a small rucksack and saw a lot of people with vans, awnings, tyre warmers and some serious looking trackbikes but everyone was really friendly with each other. I did somehow manage to lost me seat cowl but it was handed in a little scratched and dented but it's back on the bike for now.

Watching the intermediate group was interesting. There was a 600 going into the long straight next to a new Hayabusa. The lad on the 600 took the Hayabusa on the left hander and it seemed like they both got on the gas at the same time. The gap the hayabusa opened up in the space of 600 or so metres was astounding. I knew they were brutal but that was unreal!

As for the day getting my confidence in my own and moreso the bikes abilities it was fantastic. I was leaning further than I have before and the bike felt planted and safe. Watching the fast group made me realise what a modern bike can actually do and it's pretty amazing that you can travel so quickly for under £6000. However I'm certainly not good enough to warrant a race rep 600 at the moment so I'll stick with naked twins I think.

evening
I heard about the cowl on the track - glad you got it back atleast. Wouldn't mind somehow obtaining the stuff raf leeming have picture and video wise missed where they were selling them from. There's a video from the pointy cam too if you're interested.

Less that £1000 quid!

You can pick up a race spec Alloy framed CBR 600 for about 750 quid on ebay with wets and paddock stands. If you've got £1500, then the Worlds your Lobster! Gixer 750's and 600's R6's and even 1000's. Just search Ebay for "Race Bike" or "Track Bike" They're likely to have more sexy goodies on them than the road bikes for about half price.

Dave, I told you you were going well :P
