I did indeed, got it sealed up a treat and ready to fit on the bike, once I`ve done the wiring "thing". But there was a few folks who I thought were going to buy the resistors to solve their problem. I`m going to replace them on my old unit to keep as a spare as its a useless thing right now.

Your effort is much appreciated. I've got this thread as a reference now - btw please don't take your diagrams off flickr

I'll have a go at it but it'll probably be during the winter when I get some time.

Yeah, thanks for this thread. Really helped me. I was going to replace components but managed to find and 06' light that fixed my problem straight away.

All sorted at last.

I had a phone call this morning from the people who have repaired my bike, they inform me that the rear light has a fault and I should look into sorting it out. The fault is that the top three sets of LEDs are dim when compared to the rest. I have searched through this thread and am not sure I can see a repair that worked, other than replacing the whole unit.

Any tips or is it just a case of replacing the unit anyway?

post #97 from Miss_Undaztood i think contains circuit diagrams and a description of the resistor values that have changed on the newer models that don't suffer from this issue so as much. Resistors are cheap so it's worth an attempt if you're handy with a soldering iron. Replacing the unit is obviously less effort.

How did I miss that, I read the whole thread too! Duh...

Right, I am off to find some leccy bits! Not seen anything of Miss Undaztood for ages, but thanks all the same to her and to Ophic for pointing it out!

Edit: Just ordered some resistors to play with, just got to wait for the bike to come back now! Then I shall be playing with electronics again.

MR2582R-82R Metal Film Resistor 0.25W 1% 4 £0.06 £0.24
MR25150R-150R Metal Film Resistor 0.25W 1% 1 £0.06 £0.06

I did wonder why RS wanted to charge me 82 pence per resistor, then adding posting on top it came to nearly eight quid!

Keep us informed how its going - I was going to attempt this myself this winter - although the valve clearances might take precedence.

Hellows !

Just wondering if anyone has managed to fix a dodgey light unit yet ?

I`ve not tried mine yet as I got a job, moved, was working alot for 9 months, got made redundant again, and as i`m not working now and the bike is stored at my folks house, I sorned it together with my other `toy` so havent done anything in ages

Life sux sometimes ...
