Thats about 50 to 60 MPG which is what I can get from my ZX9R. Big
Kwaks have always been good on fuel unless you ride a ZX12 for some reason.

Got to say, I love the instant MPG on the speed triple dash... not sure how accurate it is, but I've never managed to get it to go below 30 for any length of time.

Mind you, being one of those fancy EFi systems, I have had it reading 60+ while cruising (but still responsive) - went to Preston's with him and Pt6 and it was reading 70s until we started picking up the pace in the rain.

so 18 to 61 then
that is very good, presumably better than indicated there too since he won't drain all 22l to fill it (or is that a 22l fill and the tank's actually bigger?)

I wouldn't mind an SRX or the like, would save me a fortune on the local pottering about type riding.

Reading though this thread, I seriously wish i handn't P/X'd the YBR i had, if the cost of re-buying, insuring a 125/ 250 wasn't so great, I 'd have one by now (the work aint guaranteed for a long time).

For the record and curiosity what would a 400/4 do MPG?

Fuel is pure tax in this country, its around 50p litre (refined) at present and tax 80p litre.
My old man had a good point on this, the last Conservative Govt. put the idea of wacking a f***load of tax onto fuel to reduce its use, and its worked.
The bike is a runner for me from tomorrow, but it works out cheaper with my mileage to but a £11.50 a week pass and use the bus everywhere (Transport is about £25 ea week). With the fuel costs my old man and a lot of friends need to use private vehicles to do their jobs and its now too expensive just to do the legal minimum (the job I do the typical mileage is >20k a year)

Ah, that makes sense. Though complaining about it wouldn't

You don' t think it's a bit cheeky to run a bike that drinks premium fuel as a long distance commuter then complain about it being expensive to run...

Not tempted to bump the compression back down to get the flexibility back? I take it you had problems with regular rather than just running it from choice... What power are you getting out of it btw? Still got my Busa pistons in the garage but never did fit them, saved them for the day mine stopped feeling quick enough and then it never did but every busa'd SV I know can still run on regular.

wouldn't call 70 miles long but i can get 120 to a tank when m-waying it but i dont i go the A roads, my post was more to highlight the cost of fuel, some lads i know travel further that costs them £10 one way (saxo vts 120bhp) thats the problem when you like things that go fast

not sure on bhp, im running higher comp a swell 10thou gasket job, getting it on a dyno soon hopfully and get it tuned

also running 14t front a 45 rear does nothing for fuel economy but as it was never meant to be a commuter im not going to change it, or i might as well sell it an just get a car
