Re: Smile of the day - What is yours?
Pondering how I'm going to get to my massage as there's no bus to anywhere near the clinic. Going into the garage to get cat food and spotting this big grey thing with 2 wheels. Ooooo I own a motorbike! I could use that! I haven't ridden for so long that I'd almost forgotten what it was for. Starts no problem, air topped up in tyres, now where did I put my thermal knickers?

Re: Smile of the day - What is yours?
Brrrrr it was chilly and that winter sun was dodgy, plus they'd salted the roads so it took me longer to get my gear on, off for my massage, back on, off again then hose down the bike than the journey, I only rode 3 miles but it was nice to get onto a bike again.

Re: Smile of the day - What is yours?
I made mushroom soup today for Mr LPH's lunches next week. A proper wintry Sunday activity.
This left me with a couple of shallots, a few mushrooms, some cream, creme fraiche and fresh thyme. So instead of chucking it I griddled some chicken, roasted some leftover potatoes found in the fridge and then made a sauce from all the soup ingredient leftovers by adding a stock cube and some white wine I didn't finish on Friday. Added a big spoon of dijon mustard and cooked the chicken in the sauce and the potatoes in the oven while my bread baked. Delicious, and saved wasting anything.

Re: Smile of the day - What is yours?
Stupid satisfaction of spraying some lithium grease on the garage door, sliders and joints and realising I should have doen it ages ago as it now glides open nearly all by itself with a little nudge upwards : )
But mainly, the sun being out and the roads being dry! |

Re: Smile of the day - What is yours?
Last week I'd arranged to see the surgeon who put my arm back together 6 years ago but we had to cancel because of the doctors strike. So I saw him tonight instead. I got back to Liverpool Street to find that if I'd travelled home at the normal time I'd have been stuck for hours as my train line was closed. I've had a really nice dinner in a cosy restaurant instead of being stuck with thousands of grumpy stranded commuters. It never normally works out this way, usually when I leave to get home early I end up delayed.
