for Nicky, for Troy and for Valentino.

Can't find Dani's 'huge sigh of relief' emoticon.

Oopsy.. Mr Rossi put to much pressure on himself with that f*ck up of a start. Do you think that somebody from Honda nipped into the Yamaha garage overnight with a collection of Nicky Haydens clutches from a few races back and put the worst one in his M1...

Shame it ended that way. I wanted to see them slug it out on track rather than Rossi falling off like that.

Nice effort from Troy Baylis though.

There is no disputing that on a 1 for 1 basis, Rossi is the better rider. However, the championship is about getting as many points as you can across 17 races, and this year the Hayden/Honda team has achieved that better than anyone else.

It's also interesting to note that this is the first year that "king of the pressure" Rossi has actually had to win it in the final race. Maybe he just isn't as good under pressure as most of us think he is. Well done Hayden, no matter what anybody says, he has earned his stripes this year. Well done son.

Bayliss was just "Bayliss" wasn't he... not giving an inch for anybody and wanting to prove that he can do it in the top class... I'd love to see him and Rossi go head to head for a season on competitive bikes, would be a great spectacle.

As much as the genius of Rossi is, Hayden has done a great job and hat off to him. Not only has he won it fair and square but seems quite a honest and good bloke to boot.

I wonder what the result would of been if Rossi was trailing Hayden going into the final round. I reckon the result would of been alot different so in hindsight perhaps Pedrosa taking out his teammate actually worked out for the best. It made Hayden go all out and put the pressure firmly on Rossi's shoulders.

Hat off to Bayliss too, cracking race for him.

I wonder if Rossi is regretting coming second to Elias by two thousandth of a second in Estoril. If he'd had the extra five points the win would have given him he would have won the championship with today's result, I believe.

I'm really pleased for Hayden. He seems to be a sound bloke and his life-long dream has come true. He did everything he needed to for the Valencia race whilst Vale dropped it. Rossi looked a little nervous in Portugal as well. Perhaps he's not as great under pressure as we were all thinking.

When does the 2007 season start?

Welldone Nicky, its nice to see someone else win it. Seems like everyone forgot he's been riding a different bike to last year and the other Honda's.

Bit gutted for rossi, thought it was good of him to shake Nicky's hand at the end.

Lets be honest though with the 800's starting next year I think he may run away with it.

Troy Bayliss tested for drugs after Valencia GP win!

Oh my, did all that really happen today? The big red Ducati wall proved impenetrable with Troy "Rocky Balboa" Bayliss just making a mockery of those who say Moto GP is for young flat bellied guys!

I mean they wheel him in from the bone yard,(normally known as WSB) and he beats even the factory team's Nš1 rider and all other fancy Dan runners in the biggest race for many years! Fantastic Fairy Tale stuff and brilliant gesture from Ducati for a guy who was on board at the start with the GP Ducati, to get a ride on the last one! Superb.

Pedrosa more than made up for his screw up in Portugal by dragging Nicky to the leading bunch and then leg waving him through. Dani then took care of the sniping attacks from Melandri and Crasher Stoner who once again lived up to his reputation,(oh my is the Ducati body work guy gonna be kept busy next year!)

Valentino's only mistake was that novice type bucking bronco start which cost him dearly. From then he had no option but to push and push hard as Valencia is not an easy track to pass on and riders can pull away from you quickly. I wouldnt put it down to pressure, just a racer knowing it was "game on".

I think this loss by Rossi does nothing but make the whole category far more interesting for next season with so many new questions to ponder and to finally remove that mindset that Valentino is invincible.

As stated man for man Valentino for sure is better than Nicky, but Nicky is now only the 2nd person EVER to win the Moto GP championship and no matter what or how you think a championship should be won, he has won it and so is a deserved champ and should be given due credit.

I so wanted Roberto Locatelli to win the 250 race, what a competitor he is but again thwarted so close to the end. Davizioso's mind games did not work and Jorge Lorenzo had the support of a brilliant "tail gunner" performance from Alex Debon. Jorge great champ and truly deserved once again.

*I wonder if all those Rossi fans who have only known him to be a winner will stay loyal?

I have to say, I was rooting for VR but I do agree with this. I still rate Rossi as the better rider and am a little bit miffed that someone can win the championship from being Mr Consistent, rather than out right fantastic rides, but if that's the way it goes, then so be it!

Hats of to the Duke's - Really pleased that Troy won it - 1, 2 is a superb end to the season! Can't wait for next year.
